Austin Riley Powers Braves Past Dodgers, Ends LA’s 7-Game Win Streak
The Atlanta Braves snapped the Los Angeles Dodgers' seven-game winning streak on Sunday night with a 4-3 victory at Truist Park, thanks to a pair of two-run home runs from third baseman Austin Riley.
Riley wasted no time getting Atlanta on the board, launching a 426-foot two-run homer in the first inning off Dodgers starter Dustin May. He followed up with another two-run blast in the third, marking his eighth home run of the season and accounting for all four Braves runs.
Braves Snap Losing Streak to Dodgers
Atlanta had dropped its first five games against Los Angeles this season and had lost seven straight overall to the Dodgers dating back to 2024. Sunday's win helped the Braves avoid a season sweep and get back on track against a top National League rival.
Dodgers Make Late Push
Miguel Rojas brought the Dodgers within a run with a pinch-hit solo homer off Dylan Lee in the seventh inning. The rally continued in the ninth when Andy Pages reached on an infield single, and pinch-runner Hyeseong Kim advanced to third base. But Braves closer Raisel Iglesias shut the door, striking out Rojas and Austin Barnes to secure his fifth save of the season.
Pitching Performances
- Bryce Elder (2-1) picked up the win for Atlanta, striking out six and allowing two runs on four hits over five-plus innings.
- Pierce Johnson delivered in a key relief appearance, inheriting two base runners in the sixth and retiring three straight, including a run-scoring groundout by Max Muncy.
- Dustin May (1-2) took the loss for the Dodgers after surrendering both of Riley’s home runs.
Defensive Highlight
Dodgers left fielder Michael Conforto made a standout diving catch to rob Drake Baldwin in the second inning. However, Conforto's offensive struggles continued as he went 0-for-2 with two strikeouts, extending his hitless streak to 0-for-28, with his batting average dropping to .141.
