NFL Schedule Release Expected Mid-May Following 2025 Draft

With the 2025 NFL Draft just around the corner, attention is already turning to the next big event on the league’s offseason calendar — the official release of the NFL schedule. According to NFL Vice President of Broadcast Planning and Scheduling Mike North, fans can expect the 2025 NFL schedule to be released sometime between May 13 and May 15.
North revealed the tentative schedule release window during an appearance on the It’s Always Gameday in Buffalo podcast. He explained that the NFL Draft, set to take place in Green Bay, plays a major role in the timing.
The league plans to take about a week after the draft to analyze roster changes and finalize scheduling decisions — especially those impacted by high-profile players, including future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers, whose status could still affect matchups and primetime games.
“One of the advantages of a slightly later schedule release is getting a clearer picture after the draft,” said North. “We might have a general sense of the top picks, but surprises like trades or last-minute signings can significantly shift our planning.”
Over the last few years, the NFL has strategically teased its schedule with announcements of international games, holiday matchups, and other standalone events ahead of the full reveal. Since May 15 falls on a Thursday, it presents the perfect opportunity for the league to build momentum and dominate the sports conversation throughout the week.
Fans can expect a full breakdown of primetime games, holiday specials, and international fixtures as the NFL turns its focus toward the highly anticipated 2025 season.
