Jacksonville Jaguars Kick Off New Era with Head Coach Liam Coen and a Rehabbing Trevor Lawrence

The Jacksonville Jaguars are entering the 2025 NFL season with renewed energy and high expectations after an eventful offseason. Leading the charge is new head coach Liam Coen, who brings a fresh vision to Duval as he takes the reins of a team hungry for success.
Jaguars fans are particularly eager to see what Coen and star quarterback Trevor Lawrence can accomplish together this year. With a talented roster and a new coaching philosophy, hopes are high in Jacksonville.
Trevor Lawrence Injury Update: Optimistic for 2025 Return
While there is no official return date yet, Trevor Lawrence provided an encouraging update on his recovery. Speaking with reporters on Wednesday, the Jaguars quarterback expressed confidence in his rehab progress.
“I’m very optimistic that I’ll be perfectly good for the season,”
Lawrence noted that his offseason workload will begin with a lighter volume of throws as he gradually builds back up.
“The amount of throws might be a little lighter to start and work our way up, just until I get really, fully back,” he said. “I imagine that and maybe just some handoff stuff will be a little limited, but besides that I think that won't last too long. I'm throwing and obviously progressing my way up—further distance, more throws—just trying to be smart and not jump into the deep end right away.”
Lawrence Recovering from Shoulder Surgery, Concussion
Lawrence underwent surgery earlier this year to repair an AC joint injury in his non-throwing shoulder. The procedure came after he was placed on injured reserve, ending his 2024 season prematurely.
It wasn’t the only injury he faced. In late December, Lawrence suffered a concussion after taking a hard hit from Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair. He entered concussion protocol before ultimately being shut down for the year due to the shoulder surgery.
Looking Ahead: Jaguars Poised for a Bounce-Back Year
With a healthy Trevor Lawrence and a new leader in Liam Coen, the Jaguars are aiming to bounce back in 2025 and make a serious playoff push. As Lawrence continues to rehab and ramp up activity, all eyes will be on Jacksonville to see how this new era unfolds.
