Adam Lowry’s Double-OT Heroics Send Winnipeg Jets Past Blues in Game 7 Thriller
The Winnipeg Jets are heading to the second round of the 2025 NHL Playoffs after a heart-stopping 4-3 double-overtime win over the St. Louis Blues in Game 7 on Sunday night. Adam Lowry tipped in the game-winner 16:10 into the second overtime, capping off one of the most dramatic comebacks in franchise history and ending the third-longest Game 7 in NHL history at 96 minutes and 10 seconds.
Trailing 3-1 late in the third period, Winnipeg stormed back with two goals in the final two minutes to force overtime. Vladislav Namestnikov cut the deficit to one with 1:56 remaining, scoring on a shot that deflected off Blues defenseman Ryan Suter. Just seconds later, the Jets appeared to tie the game, but after a lengthy review, the goal was overturned as the puck was ruled not to have fully crossed the line.
With just three seconds left in regulation, Cole Perfetti redirected a shot into the net, tying the game and igniting the home crowd of 15,225 at Canada Life Centre. Perfetti, who finished with two goals on the night, was instrumental in forcing overtime.
In the second overtime, it was Neal Pionk’s shot from the right point that found the stick of Lowry, whose deflection beat Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington and sent the Jets bench pouring onto the ice. Pionk and Kyle Connor each recorded three assists in the win, while goaltender Connor Hellebuyck made 26 saves.
For St. Louis, Jordan Kyrou, Mathieu Joseph, and Radek Faksa each found the back of the net. Binnington stood tall with 43 saves, but the Blues ultimately couldn’t withstand Winnipeg’s relentless pressure.
With the victory, the Jets advance to face the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference semifinals. Game 1 is scheduled for Wednesday in Winnipeg. It will be the first postseason meeting between the Jets and Stars, setting the stage for another high-stakes showdown.
The Jets’ never-say-die attitude and timely scoring have made them one of the most dangerous teams in the playoffs. After rallying in historic fashion to eliminate the Blues, Winnipeg carries momentum and belief into the next round.
