2025 NFL Draft: Top 3 First-Round Targets for the Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos turned heads in the 2024 NFL season, finishing with a 10-7 record and clinching a spot in the AFC playoffs. Even more promising was the emergence of rookie quarterback Bo Nix, who showed flashes of being a potential franchise cornerstone.

After an active offseason that included key free-agent signings like linebacker Dre Greenlaw and tight end Evan Engram, the Broncos now shift their focus to the 2025 NFL Draft. With the No. 20 overall pick, Denver has a golden opportunity to address specific needs and further strengthen their roster.

Most NFL mock drafts predict the Broncos will target an offensive playmaker in Round 1. Let’s explore three of the top potential first-round fits for Denver heading into the 2025 draft.

1. Colston Loveland, TE – Michigan

One of the most frequently linked prospects to the Broncos is Michigan tight end Colston Loveland, and for good reason. Loveland is a versatile weapon who can thrive both in-line and from the slot. Despite playing in a conservative Michigan offense, he still managed to haul in 56 receptions for 582 yards and 5 touchdowns in 2024.

With Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mims Jr., and newly acquired Evan Engram already in the mix, Loveland would add yet another dimension to Denver's passing attack. His blend of athleticism and route-running would give Bo Nix another reliable target as he continues to develop.

Why He Fits: Dual-role versatility, red zone threat, and a natural fit in Sean Payton’s offense.

2. Omarion Hampton, RB – North Carolina

With Javonte Williams departing in free agency, the Broncos have a void at running back, and Omarion Hampton could be the ideal solution. The North Carolina standout led the ACC in rushing for the second consecutive year, finishing with 1,660 yards and 15 touchdowns, along with 38 catches for 373 yards and 2 more scores.

Hampton brings power, explosiveness, and three-down ability, making him a potential workhorse back from day one. While Jaleel McLaughlin is currently projected as the starter, Hampton’s talent could immediately elevate the backfield.

Why He Fits: Proven production, power-speed combo, and the ability to carry a full workload.

3. Luther Burden III, WR – Missouri

If the Broncos want to further bolster their receiving corps, Luther Burden III is an electrifying option. The former five-star recruit is known for his elite YAC ability, crisp route running, and playmaking instincts. In 2024, Burden recorded 61 catches for 676 yards and 6 touchdowns, following a 1,212-yard campaign in 2023.

In Denver, Burden could slot in immediately opposite Courtland Sutton, giving Bo Nix a dangerous duo on the outside. His skill set would add explosiveness to the Broncos’ offense and create matchup nightmares for opposing defenses.

Why He Fits: Dynamic after the catch, instant-impact potential, and a high ceiling as a WR2.

Final Thoughts

With promising talent already in place and momentum from a playoff season, the Denver Broncos are positioned for a big step forward in 2025.

Whether they prioritize tight end, running back, or wide receiver in the first round of the NFL Draft, all three prospects—Colston Loveland, Omarion Hampton, and Luther Burden III—could play immediate and pivotal roles in helping Denver take that next leap.
